Jolene Sound Room is a basement club designed to look like a recording studio with a capacity of around 200. It’s located in an art deco building called Julia & Henry’s at 200 East Flagler and 2nd Street, which is said to have been used by Al Capone to store liquor during Prohibition. The doors are open at weekends, 10 PM to 4 AM.
The Jolene brand opened its first Sound Room in Brooklyn earlier this year. The Miami club will replicate the concept with retro styling, high-end cocktails and a cutting-edge audio system that will showcase local music culture and Miami-based artists.
The venue was set up by the owners of Club Space Miami—Davide Danese, Coloma Kaboomsky and David Sinopoli—in collaboration with Gabriel Orta and Elad Zvi of Bar Lab, a nightlife consultancy.
The sound system was built by Phonic Technologies, the team behind the system at New York clubs Cielo, Output and Outer Heaven. Miami-based producer DJ Ray has come on as music director of the new space.
