Starting tonight, July nineteenth, True Form presents Request Line is made up of data that have been rescued by archive challenge True Form when Oriental Star closed its doorways in 2017. The launch get together features a dialog with the challenge’s lead archivist Faisal Hussain, DJ units from Rizmi and Chandé, and the primary likelihood to see the exhibition.
The exhibition, which is a part of South Asian Heritage Month, follows native music journal SEEN’s takeover of Manchester Museum earlier this month. Sonics, Stories and Scenes of the Diaspora explored the impression of South Asian artists on the worldwide music scene through panel discussions, movie screenings and workshops, amongst different issues.
Started by Mohammed Ayubin within the Balsall Heath space of Birmingham in 1970, Oriental Star Agencies helped launch the careers of artists resembling Bally Sagoo, Ustad Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan and Malkit Singh.
Set up in 2012, True Form Projects is a social enterprise that specialises in amassing oral histories, artefacts and private tales. Most of the organisation’s work centres across the UK’s South Asian diaspora communities.
