Madhouse Records is ceasing operations.
Label cofounder Kerri Chandler broke the news on Instagram today, July 4th. “Legendary house music label Madhouse Records, which was formed in 1992 by New York house DJ Kerri Chandler and Dublin-born music industry entrepreneur Mel Medalie, is to cease trading,” the post read.
All of Chandler’s Madhouse releases will move over onto his Kaoz Theory label, with the remaining records becoming part of its parent label, Champion Records.
“We’re of course sad to see Madhouse Records come to an end after an incredible 31 years, however all good things come to an end,” said Champion’s Raj Porter. “Both Kerri and Champion have exciting new projects in the pipeline, and it just seemed like the right time to bring the label to a close.”
Madhouse launched in 1992 with Chandler’s classic album A Basement, A Red Light, And a Feelin’. It has since put out music from the likes of Dennis Ferrer, Demuja, Black Loops, Kevin Over and Fred Everything.
